Heritage Insurance Group and Heritage Insurance & Real Estate represent four agencies who serve multiple communities including Coon Rapids, Jefferson, Scranton and Audubon. The companies have re-branded under one name in order to leverage a single identity that is dedicated to protecting people’s assets for multiple generations in West Central Iowa.

Our History

The present Heritage Insurance  and Real Estate has an interesting and changing history.  Following WWII Dennis Brannan and Dale Carpenter returned to the Insurance Agency they had started only a few years before.  While they were in the service their wives Pearl and Adelade kept things going.  In 1967 the Insurance Agency was sold to Bruce Annear.  The Don Anderson Agency was also a part of the office by this time and Leona Anderson, Don’s wife, was at the front desk.  In 1989 Annear agency was sold to Bryton and in 1991 J. Wiltsie Cretsinger and Fred Dolezal purchased the Annear Insurance agency from Bryton. Cretsinger changed the name from Annear Agency to Coon Rapids Insurance and Real Estate.  Then in 2006 Cretsinger purchased the rest of Dolezals interest. The insurance agency has been with J. Wiltsie Cretsinger as president ever since that time and has added an Audubon location and purchased  Craig and Stacy MacDonald's Insurance Agency in Scranton and Jefferson. During the process of growing the Insurance and Real Estate Agencies, Cretsinger sold a percentage of the Insurance Agency to Jeremy Greiner who is a successful producer and now Vice President and currently works out of the Scranton location. 

Interesting Fact: Sam Cretsinger, Wiltsie's father, had been associated with the Insurance and Real Estate business in some capacity since its inception in 1967 until his passing in May of 2019.
